One of the first dates Sasha and Wyatt ever went on was a trip to the beach at La Push. The North-Western Washington coast is a magical place, it’s rugged, it’s unique and it’s isolated. I love all of those traits and that made First Beach a great place to shoot this La Push elopement inspiration session.
The logistics behind this shoot were a bit daunting to tackle at first but it all came together quite nicely. Sasha an Wyatt have a great sense of style and their wedding clothes from their lovely backyard wedding last year still fit perfectly! We arrived in Forks, WA late and rented a hotel room for the night so we would have a place to sleep and a place to get ready for the shoot. We woke up around 4:30am and got to work. Alicia worked her magic with Sasha’s hair and we had some gorgeous fresh and seasonal flowers provided by Carey at Bleed Foot Florals.
Once we were prepped and ready for action we headed out to the beach. The sun was freshly risen in the air and the waves were calming crashing on the shore. Surfers dotted the landscape in their attempt to catch the early morning breaks. We were greeted by some fisherman while we were shooting on the large rock breakwater that divides the coast line and provides safe harbor to La Push proper. The shoreline is covered in washed up timber from storms and we used a massive washed up Sequoia tree as backdrop for some of our photos. Alicia was on dog sitting duty while we shot since we brought along our pup Zoey and Sasha and Wyatt’s poodle Dahlia joined us as well.
We also shot at Rialto Beach which is about 30 minutes North of La Push. From Rialto you have a view of the seastacks that surround the Native oceanside community of La Push and the shoreline is also covered with washed up logs and dead trees. There are dead trees standing on the shore that have had their foliage withered away by the salty air, their roots trapped in the sandy soil.

Ok, I grew up on the WA Coast because my grandfather was a gill netter. I love this session. DROOLING!
