I’ve never shot a wedding on a boat before, so this was quite fun! Olivia and Max had a really fun and intimate wedding aboard the MV Skansonia, a decommissioned ferry that used to shuttle passengers and vehicles from Point Defiance in Tacoma to Vashon Island. The Skansonia now lives it’s life as a venue docked along the shore of Lake Union in Seattle. There’s a lot of history on this little boat and it was staged beautifully for their wedding.
A few details stand out to me from this wedding, namely the bouquets and boutineirre’s for the Bride and Groom and the wedding party we’re completely made from paper. PAPER. They we’re stunning and very detailed. Their cake was vegan and it was beautifully airbrushed with a white/pink gradient and they had some delicious food as well with some great options available for a variety of diets. The table settings were very elegant yet simple, which really was the grand theme, well thought out but not overdone. Everything was very tasteful, which can be hard to acheive when planning a wedding!
The view from the bow of the ferry pointed directly at the Seattle skyline. It was a hot day so Lake Union was packed with boaters, kayakers, paddle boarders and of course the iconic Kenmore Air seaplanes coming and going throughout the evening. The ceremony was held on the bow with the aforementioned skyline view setting the stage.
After the ceremony Olivia and Max were whisked away upstairs to make everything legal and enjoy some champagne while the guests enjoyed their own beverages during cocktail hour. Food was served and the fun got underway!
