Museum of Glass Wedding Reception in Tacoma
Megan and Christian chose to celebrate their marriage with Tacoma Museum of Glass wedding reception after eloping in Greece. While their intimate ceremony took place overseas, they wanted an opportunity to gather with friends and family closer to home and share in the excitement of their wedding day.
The Tacoma Museum of Glass provided a unique and creative backdrop for the celebration. We spent time creating portraits and family photographs throughout the outdoor courtyard surrounding the museum, using the iconic Hot Shop cone as a focal point. The distinctive architecture and industrial design of the Museum of Glass make it one of Tacoma’s most recognizable landmarks and an incredible location for wedding photography.
Inside, guests were invited to watch resident glass artists at work in the Hot Shop, where molten glass is kept at extreme temperatures and transformed into intricate works of art. Watching the artists move with such precision and confidence was captivating, and it gave guests an experience that felt uniquely tied to the venue. The museum galleries were also open throughout the evening, allowing everyone to explore the exhibits while enjoying craft cocktails, champagne, and conversation.
The atmosphere throughout the reception was relaxed, joyful, and full of energy. Friends and family arrived ready to celebrate Megan and Christian, creating a welcoming environment that felt both elegant and playful.
I photographed the reception primarily on digital cameras, but for portraits I incorporated my Pentax 67 medium format film camera. The larger film negative creates a distinctive look with exceptional detail, depth, and tonal richness that remains difficult to replicate digitally. Mixing film and digital photography allowed me to capture both the candid moments of the evening and timeless portraits that complement the artistic character of the Tacoma Glass Museum wedding venue.
