Black Diamond Gardens Wedding | Ceferina + Nate

An earthy, detail-rich Black Diamond Gardens wedding filled with handmade details and heartfelt moments

I am always honored when friends ask me to photograph their wedding. There’s a certain level of trust involved in choosing your photographer, especially for something as personal as a wedding day. But I already knew Ceferina and Nate were going to create something beautiful together, so photographing their Black Diamond Gardens wedding felt like both a privilege and a natural fit.

Black Diamond Gardens, located just outside Auburn, WA, sits on over 11 acres of lush, intentionally maintained grounds. It’s the kind of place that feels both open and intimate at the same time, with a ceremony lawn, greenhouse reception space, pond, and even a small collection of goats and chickens that add a bit of unexpected charm. It was the perfect setting for this Black Diamond Gardens wedding, especially with its relaxed, earthy atmosphere.

One of my favorite parts of this day was the strong DIY and artistic vision woven throughout everything. Ceferina is an artist through and through, and her influence was present in every detail of the Black Diamond Gardens wedding design. She created much of the decor herself, including custom calligraphy that tied together the invitation suite, signage, and table details. The palette leaned into warm gold, deep green, and natural brown tones, giving the entire day an organic, grounded feel.

Her bridal look was just as intentional. Her dress was handmade in Bulgaria, and her ring was custom designed by her. She also wore a striking brass crown crafted by her friend Miki of SVNLIGHTS, which added a sculptural, artistic element that perfectly matched the tone of the wedding.

Beyond the details, the Black Diamond Gardens wedding was full of genuine celebration and connection. Guests were treated to a fantastic taco truck dinner under warm summer light, followed by heartfelt toasts, laughter, and dancing that carried into the evening. Ceferina and Nate exchanged handwritten vows beneath the floral trellis, with Nate’s father officiating a ceremony that felt deeply personal and grounded in family.

One of the most unexpected and memorable moments came during the speeches when Nate’s best man, who also happened to share a birthday with the wedding date, was surprised with his own birthday cake mid-celebration—turning an already joyful day into something even more personal.

This Black Diamond Gardens wedding was a perfect reflection of who Ceferina and Nate are: creative, intentional, and surrounded by a community that fully showed up for them.
