Mt Rainier Elopement – Carson + Keisha

It seems that I can’t get enough of Mt. Rainier. I feel like I am constantly being pulled towards it like I’m caught in its tractor beam. Which I suppose is a good problem to have, Tahoma is mystical and always a sight for sore eyes. That why I was stoked when Keisha and Carson approached me for their Mt Rainier elopement. What better place to get hitched?

We met up on a dreary morning at the Stonecreek Lodge near the Nisqually entrance to the park. Surprisingly when I arrived there was a deer walking around the grounds acting like he owned the place, not phased by visitors in the slightest. Keisha got ready for the day at Stonecreek and her mother helped her into her dress. A Seahawk fan, Keisha was repping her team with her shoes. Once Carson arrived we were ready to get to work. We shot the first look on the bank of the Nisqually River and then headed off into the park to capture their ceremony.

The ceremony was held on the shore of Reflection Lake, Rainier’s top obscured by the low flying clouds. After the ceremony we made our way up to Paradise Lodge and back down in our effort to get some killer wedding photos. Speaking of killer, we also ran into A BEAR and some cubs while we were at Paradise. I don’t think my newlyweds are going to forget that moment for the rest of their lives.

Oregon Coast – Seattle Travel Photographer

30 years on this Earth. I’ve woken up 10,950 times and I look forward to doubling that number and then some.

For my birthday weekend Alicia and I packed up the dog and hit the road. Destination Oregon. The road trip began in the evening on a Saturday (I had just finished shooting a wedding that day) and we drove straight down to Hood River, OR from Tacoma, WA. Our camp for the night was at Lost Lake up in the Mt. Hood National Forest. It was pitch black when we arrived and started raining by 2am and didn’t let up in time for any photos unfortunately.

In the morning we packed up our supplies and started the 3.5hr trek to the Coast. I made camping reservations in Nehalem but while we were in the area we got to spend time at Seaside and Cannon Beach. We also made a stop at Fort Stevens. I’ve been coming to the Oregon coast since I was just a kid, so I really wanted Alicia to experience it.

It was a great way to spend my birthday and get away for the weekend. I got soaked shooting the photo of Multnomah Falls but other than that we stayed dry on an otherwise wet weekend back home.

Fort Townsend State Park Wedding – James + Stephanie

The wedding was at Fort Townsend State Park just outside of the scenic Victorian maritime town of Port Townsend, WA. The ceremony was held in an open field under a large Douglas Fir tree. The location was perfect for these two who are both outdoor enthusiasts. James is a accomplished rock climber and thru that passion is how he met Stephanie.

Some relationships just seem destined for great things. The universal support from friends and family allows the love to grow and become bigger than just what’s shared between two people. I think James and Steph fully embody this phenomena.

I’ve been lucky enough to known James and Steph for the past 2 years or so because my girlfriend Alicia has been close friends with James since high school. Ivery had the opportunity to get to know these two for the past 2 years and I was honored to shoot their wedding and capture that love being shared with the guests and family.

The reception was held on site and was a blast. Craft beers, BBQ sandwiches and decadent chocolate cupcakes were served and enjoyed by all.

Everyone danced under the paper lanterns and Christmas lights until it was time to call it a night. We sent off the newlyweds and proceeded to party at the group campsite until the early morning. Surely a wedding to be remembered by all.

Yacht Club Wedding – Tiffany + Roland

Tiffany and Roland seem to be that couple that was destined to be together. The story of their meeting and eventual relationship is one that sounds so genuine and so honest that it just makes sense that these two got married. The love of hockey can bring people together and that’s the truth. Their wedding was a beach side affair at the Des Moines Yacht Club in, you guessed it, Des Moines. Tucked away just South of Seattle but right on the shores of the Puget Sound. We we’re able to get away and get some shots on the beach of the newlyweds which turned out great.

A yacht club wedding is great due to the abundance of nautical details. I loved the old flags, the portholes mounted on the walls and imagery of anchors and knots everywhere. The boating world is an interesting one and it added an interesting flair to this wedding.

This was a fun wedding, it wasn’t trying hard to be something outlandish or something for the Pinterest crowd to gawk at. It was simply about the love of these two wonderful people and the love of their families. And isn’t that what it’s all about anyways?
