Got another batch of scans back from the fine folks at theFINDlab in UT. The color scans are from a roll of Kodak Portra 400 that I shot over about 2 weeks and the black and white scans are from a roll of Kodak Tri-X 400 that I shot and developed (at home) the same day.
I recently stopped by Supernova Barbershop in Downtown Tacoma and got some shots of them working on a few cuts as well as taking some detail shots around the shop. If you’re not familiar this is a very popular barbershop and by the time the doors opened at 10a they had 4 chairs filled and people waiting in the lobby.
Nice group of guys (and gal!) and they do great work! Take a look!
I had a great time shooting this session with Lindsay. We shot in Point Defiance Park as well as downtown near the Tacoma Glass Museum in Tacoma, WA.
I’ve only known Lindsay for about 2 years now. She is a very beautiful woman with a great personality and I really think that shines through in this series of photos. The vibe in the first set of photos is very moody and sort of whimsical while the second set of images is much more bright and playful I think. She definitely had the Stevie Nicks bad ass outfit in full swing that day.
I did two sessions in one day and part of that was at the same time, which is certainly new to me. The first session I’m featuring is with my friend Kofi. The shoot was done at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA.
Kofi is one of those dudes who always dresses well. He has a very casual style but it’s with quality pieces that work together to form a cohesive style. I like that on this shoot he was wearing a band tee which ties everything together and roots his style in with the underground punk scene Kofi has been a part of for many years.
This shoot was lots of fun and Kofi was a good sport, he hopped into the brush to get the shots I wanted and almost fell on his ass trying to balance on a not-so-sturdy log.
Working the standard Monday-Friday grind can leave very little time to get out of your hometown and explore. Especially when you have other duties, responsibilities, hobbies, etc all pulling you to and fro.
Luckily Alicia and I had a Sunday with NO PLANS! And we took that chance to make the 3+ hour drive to the coast, destination: La Push.
The drive is a little tedious at times but once you hit Lake Crescent it perks back up. The beauty and majesty of Washington is something I will never tire of, it’s a big reason why this place feels like home.
We hit Second Beach in La Push first and made the short hike down to the water where we enjoyed our lunch (Tofurky sandwiches) and then wandered the beach for a bit before we had to get moving to our next spot. Second beach we hit was Rialto Beach which is about 10 minutes further North. We had planned the trip to be able to catch sunset at Rialto and we had perfect timing.
Big waves crashing against timber lined shores. Rugged beauty. That’s the only way I can describe the Washington coast (Ocean Shores doesn’t count, sorry folks).
Take a look at our trip and let me know what you think!
