Alex and Emma traveled all the way up from Portland for their Mt Rainier engagement session. It was cold, it was a little wet, but it was stunning. The mountain never disappoints.
Emma had originally wanted to shoot at a waterfall in Portland but the plan just wasn’t working out so we settled on focusing some of our efforts at Myrtle Falls near the Paradise Lodge on Rainier. I don’t think the photos suffered from the location change one bit, we managed to get some really cool shots and I love the mood of the shots. It was an overcast day so the muted colors and subdued light really lent themselves to that mood. Mood is something I really like to focus on in my work. I feel that establishing a mood and then having my couples exude the correct attitude and body language to match the mood makes a world of difference.
I’ve known Emma for going on 8 years, I actually shot her High School Senior photos about 7 years ago. It was really nice to catch up and have a chance to meet her fiance Alex and hear of their plans for their marriage and their travel plans for the year.
I had a great time shooting this engagement session. I even got to try out a few new techniques while shooting them, take a look!
