Motorcycle engagement photos have always sounded like a fun idea to me. Anthony and Alex are already married (I shot their engagement session a few years ago and also made a cool little video for them too). But this was a engagement session I wanted to photograph with them.
This session is a good example of what’s possible when you lean into something a little different. These two are actually already married—I photographed their engagement session a few years back and even made a short video for them—but we wanted to create something new and a bit more adventurous.
Shooting engagement photos with a motorcycle comes with its own set of challenges, but that’s part of what makes it fun. There’s a balance between keeping things safe and still capturing something that feels dynamic and real.
For this shoot, I had my wife drive my Outback while I shot out of the open hatch. Not the most conventional setup, but it gave me the angle and movement I was looking for. With an 800cc engine right in front of me and limited ability to communicate, direction was kept simple—“look at each other,” “hold on,” and let the moment do the rest.
As a photographer, sessions like this are less about perfect control and more about trusting the process. When it works, you end up with something that feels genuinely unique.
If you’ve ever thought about doing motorcycle engagement photos or wedding portraits, this is your sign to go for it.
