Volunteer Park Conservatory Wedding, Kelsey + Brad

It’s always interesting how sometimes a professional relationship can extend beyond those means and become a friendship. Such is the case with Kelsey and Brad.

When initially approached to photograph their small wedding at Volunteer Park Conservatory in the upper Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. I was interested and as I do with all of my clients, I asked them to do a consultation with me. We chose a convenient location of Cloudburst Brewing in Belltown and got down to the business of discussing their wedding desires and plans.

They wanted to have a relaxed pace and focus on what matters most to them while still honoring their families. I think they managed to do it all quite well. The small group all assembled and prepped for the day at the stately Hotel Sorrento on Madison. The entryway/front desk and accompanying dark wood walled bar lend a degree of old school class to this hotel.

I shot the Bride and Groom getting dressed and then Brad and I proceeded down to the Courtyard to await Kelsey for their first look. After which we corralled the family and scooted up to Volunteer Park to tie the knot! It was a overcast day from the start but by the time we were making it up the Hill the weather turned to rain and we were mostly stuck indoors for the duration. Luckily for us there is no less than three different climate zones within the Conservatory so you could just hang out where the humidity was most comfortable.

Dinner was held at Oddfellows Cafe afterwards and I had the pleasure of joining the family for their meal and glad that I did so I could capture their cake cutting!
