An Intimate Wedding at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory
Kelsey and Brad’s wedding at Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory was one of those celebrations where the relationship naturally grew beyond photographer and client. From our first conversation, it was clear they wanted a wedding that felt intentional and centered on the people who mattered most.
When they first reached out about their intimate Capitol Hill wedding, we met at Cloudburst Brewing in Belltown to talk through their plans. That conversation set the tone for everything that followed. A thoughtful celebration that prioritized connection over a packed timeline.
They started the morning getting ready at Hotel Sorrento, one of Seattle’s most iconic historic hotels. The rich wood interiors and timeless character created a beautiful backdrop for the quiet moments before the ceremony. After documenting both of them getting ready, we stepped into the courtyard for their first look before heading to Volunteer Park Conservatory.
As a PNW wedding photographer, I’ve learned that Seattle weather is always part of the story. The morning began with overcast skies but by the time we arrived in Capitol Hill, steady rain had settled in.
The conservatory is one of the best wedding venues in Seattle for unpredictable weather. Its historic greenhouse is filled with soft natural light, while each climate-controlled room offers its own distinct atmosphere. Instead of worrying about the rain, we simply moved between the different spaces, creating a gallery with a wide variety of backdrops without ever needing to step outside.
After the ceremony, everyone gathered at Oddfellows Cafe for an intimate dinner and an evening spent celebrating with family and friends. I stayed to document the quieter moments as the reception unfolded, from the cake cutting to the conversations and laughter shared around the table.
Looking back, it’s a wedding I remember not because of an elaborate timeline or grand production, but because everything felt genuine. It was a celebration built around the people they love, and those are often the weddings that leave the biggest impression.
